26/11- The Mumbai Attack:

26/11, a series of terrorists attacks which takes place in Mumbai and lasts for about 4 days when an Islamist, Lakshar-e Taiba, a terrorist organization, with it's 10 members, carried out about 12 coordinated shootings, all this happen in November 2008 on 26.

This attack last over 4 days, started from 26 November and end till 29 November, as the news spread all over the world, it brings a global threat in the people, till its end 300 people were wounded, 174 died, which also includes the 9 of the 10 attackers.

The attacks occurred at Chattrapati Shiavji Terminus, the Leopold Cafe, the Cama hospital, the Nariman house, the Metro Cinema, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Palace and tower, the St. Xavier's College, and the lane behind the building of Times of India.

An explosion also occurred in a taxi at Vile Park, at Mazagaon, and also in the port area of Mumbai.

Various Security forces and the Mumbai Police, secured all other sites except the Taj hotel.

India's National Security Guards(NSG) performed an Operation Black Tornado, and cleared up all the attackers from the Taj Hotel, all this ended the attacks and even the remaining attackers.

Ajmal Kasab, the only attacker who was caught, told that all the attackers were the part of an Islamist terrorist group of Pakistan. 

The Indian government stated that attackers were controlled from Pakistan, as it was later confirmed by Pakistan that the sole surviving attacker was the citizen of their country.

The former leader of the attacks got out on bail on 9 April, 2015, and escaped, he was rearrested in Lahore, on 2 January, 2021. His name was Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.

In 2018, it was stated by the former Prime Minister of Pakistan  Nawaz Sharif, suggested that they played the role in the attacks of 2008, i.e. the Mumbai attack, famous as 26/11.


Various attacks have been held in Mumbai since, 12 March 1993, which coordinately killed 257 people, and injured almost 700 people, it was too a bomb explosion. 

The 1993 riots, includes religious scuffle and killed many Muslims.

Again on 2 December, 2002, the BEST blast killed 2 people and 28 were injured. This bombing occurred on the 10 demolition of the Babri Masjid, which is in Ayodhya.

On 27 January 2003, a bicycle bomb exploded near Vile Parle Station in Mumbai which killed 1 person and about 25 got injured, which was one day before India's Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpaaye, visiting Mumbai.

On 13 March, 2003, a bomb blew up in a train, near the Mulund Station and killed 10 people and about 70 were injured.

Whereas, upcoming many times various attacks has been held up in Mumbai, including the 25 August 2003, where two bombs fulminated in South Mumbai, 11 July 2006, 7 bombs shattered off in the Suburban Railway in not more 11 minutes, in 700 were injured.

After all this, it shows that 26/11 was the biggest and the most drastic attack ever held in Mumbai.


At about 8 p.m. (IST), the first attack was reported on 26 November 2008, when 10 men came ashore at two different locations in Colaba. Before splitting up in two groups they were asked by Marathi-speaking people to tell them who they were, whereas they replied them to Mind their own business and headed off. The Marathi people subsequently reported at the Police Station about those 10 unknown persons.

At last the everything was ended by NSG Raid.

Only one of the attackers, Ajmal Kasab, was the sole surviving attackers in the 2008 Mumbai Attack. He was hanged to death in 2012, in the Yejwada Jail.
